Miao Changhong, male, Han Nationality, born in December 1965 in Yanling, Henan province, is mainly engaged in the research of economic geography, regional development and spatial planning. He is now the Director of the Yellow River Civilization and Sustainable Development Research Center of Henan University (a key research base of humanities and Social Sciences of the Ministry of Education), the Director of the Yellow River Civilized Province and Ministry of Co-construction of Collaborative Innovation Center, the leading person of the geography discipline of Henan Province A superior discipline, Henan university of humanistic geography, economic geography and regional economics PhD supervisor, the executive director of the geographical society of China, the Director of the Yellow River Branch of the Geographical Society of China, and Vice President of the China Branch of the International Association for Regional Studies (RSA). Professor Miao is the winner of the 5th National Youth Geography Science and Technology Award, the outstanding young teacher of Henan Province, the Outstanding expert of Henan Province, and the expert enjoying the special government allowance. In 2006, he was selected into the “Four Batches” talent (theoretical field) project of the Propaganda Department of the CPC Central Committee. Subsequently, in 2014, he was selected into the first group of leading talents in philosophy and social sciences under the “Ten Thousand Talents Plan” of the Organization Department of the CPC Central Committee and the Publicity Department of the CPC Central Committee.
Professor Miao has presided over 1 national Natural Science Foundation key project, 4 General and Youth projects, 1 National Social Science Foundation project and more than 10 provincial and ministerial projects. In Eurasian Geography and Economics, Geoforum, Journal of Geography, Geographical Research and other professional core journals, he published more than 150 papers. What’s more, he also published more than 10 books, like spatial agglomeration, relationship between construction and regional development. As to the awards, he has won 1 second prize of Henan Province Scientific and Technological Progress, 1 first price and 5 second price of Henan Social Sciences Outstanding Achievement Award. The New Economic Geography teaching material he led is rated as teaching material of National Twelfth Five-Year Plan, and the curriculum Economic Geography is awarded National Excellent Courses, and the course of Yellow River Science was awarded by Henan Province Open Video Course and Open Online Course. In addition, Professor Miao participated in the program The Construction of the Characteristic Specialty of geography in institutions of higher learning based on the Yellow River Culture and won the special prize for teaching achievements in Henan Province.
Professor Miao is committed to promoting Yellow River Science discipline creation and “learning field” theory development, facing the major strategic needs of the development of countries and regions, emphasis on the Yellow River basin, central and central plains, carrying out comprehensive theoretical, empirical and application research, including national and regional major strategic practices such as serve the Belt and Road Initiative, ecological protection and high-quality development of the Yellow River basin, the rise of central China and central China, construction of central China economic zone and central China city cluster.
