Zhang Xiao, male, the Han Nationality, born in October 1967, a member of the Communist Party of China, born in Xinyang, Henan Province. He is a PhD, second professor, doctoral supervisor. He received his Doctor of Science from Northwest Agriculture & Forestry University in 2001. From 2002 to 2004, he worked as a postdoctoral researcher at Kyushu University in Japan. In 2002, he won the Science Foundation for Distinguished Young Scholars of Henan Province. In 2005, he was appointed as the distinguished professor of Botany in Henan University. In 2009, he was selected as the national candidate of the "New Century Talent Supporting Project" and the leader of the Innovation team of the Ministry of Education. In 2010, he was awarded the special government allowance expert of the State Council. In 2011, he was rated as the eighth batch of outstanding experts in Henan Province. In 2012, he was named the winner of Henan Provincial Science and Technology Innovation Outstanding Talents Program. In 2015, he was selected as "Zhongyuan Scholar" in Henan Province. From 2005 to 2014, Professor Zhang served as Deputy Director and executive Deputy Director of the Key Laboratory of Plant Stress Biology of the Ministry of Education (Henan).He is now the Vice Dean of  Graduate School of Henan University, Director of the Discipline Construction Office, member of the Academic Committee of the University, professor of the School of Life Sciences, and leader of the project of the State Key Laboratory of Cotton Biology.
His research interests include plant cell signal transduction, plant growth movement and development regulation. He has presided over the National Science and Technology Major Project, Projects from National Natural Science Foundation, Innovation Research Team of the Ministry of Education, Outstanding Scientific and Technological Innovation Talents and Outstanding Young Scholars Fund of Henan Province. Some of Professor Zhang's important Research results have been published in Plant Physiology, New Phytologist, Cell Research and other internationally renowned journals, and one of his papers has been cited more than 300 times in SCI by others excluding self-citation, ranking as top 1% most cited papers in ESI "Plant and Animal Discipline". Professor Zhang has won the second prize of National Natural Science Award, the first prize of Natural Science Award of Ministry of Education, and the second prize of Science and Technology Progress Award of Shanxi Province. Professor Zhang has applied for and been granted with 7 national invention patents including those in-processing.
