Wang Zhenzhong is of Han Nationality and was born in January 1957 in Sanyuan County, Shaanxi Province. He is a recipient of the State Council Special Government Allowance. He is a member of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), a Deputy Director of the History Department of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, a member of the Department of History, a researcher, a doctoral supervisor, a member of the Expert Committee of the National Teaching Materials Committee, and a distinguished Professor of "Climbing Plan" of Henan University. He used to be the Deputy Director of the Institute of History of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, the Director of the Academic Degree Committee of the Institute of History of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, the Dean of the Graduate School of History of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, and the Deputy Director of the Research Center for Ancient Civilization of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences.
Professor Wang has published more than 100 papers in journals such as The Social Sciences in China, Chinese Social Science, The Historical Research, and The Chinese History Research, and published more than 10 high-quality works. Many of his achievements have won the national awards, and he is an important and influential in domestic academic circles.
Professor Wang has been to Japan, the United States, Mexico and Italy for academic exchanges and collaborative researches. Additionally, he has attained several renowned achievements which have been the landmarks in the international academic circles. In field of the history of Chinese ancient civilization, the history of pre-Qin, the urban history of the Xia, Shang and Zhou dynasties, the history of the primitive society, and other fields, he has put forward the "three morphological evolution of the origin of Chinese civilization settlement" theory, the "states - kingdoms - empires" theory after entering the country, the Composite state structure" theory of Xia, Shang and Zhou dynasties, "The Chinese nation being originated from the Xia Dynasty due to the complex state structure" theory and the idea that ethnic types correspond to state structures. Through the above theoretical research, he has established a systematic academic innovation system and established his own unique academic research paradigms. Several of his theories and methods have been ranked among the main academic trends.
