Yan Xiyun was born in February 1957. He received his Medical doctor’s degree from Heidelberg University in Germany in 1993 and was elected member of the Chinese Academy of Sciences in 2015. He is a researcher of Institute of Biophysics, Chinese Academy of Sciences, doctoral supervisor, Deputy Director of State Key Laboratory of Biomolecules, and Secretary-General of Chinese Biophysical Society. Professor Yan has systematically studied new tumor targets with important clinical application prospects and achieved results transformation. He once proposed a new concept of nanase in the international community, revealed the enzymatic reaction kinetics and catalytic mechanism of inorganic nanomaterials from the perspective of enzymology for the first time, and applied it to sewage treatment, tumor diagnosis and detection of Ebola and other viruses. Some of his invention patents have entered the United States, Europe and Japan. This work not only reveals new properties of nanomaterials and expands their applications, but also provides new ideas and materials for the basic and applied research of simulated enzymes. The original paper was published in 2007 and has been cited more than 750 times. The research results have been verified by international peers and formed a new field for the research and application of nano-enzymes. He has won the second prize of the National Natural Science Award.
