Liu Changxiao (1942.-), born in Yongxing County, Chenzhou City, Hunan Province, is a researcher, doctoral supervisor and pharmacokinetic expert. He graduated from Beijing Medical College in 1965 and now serves as the Director and honorary President of the Academic Committee of Tianjin Pharmaceutical Research Institute, the Director of the State Key Laboratory of Drug Release Technology and Pharmacokinetics, and the Director of the Evaluation and Research Center for Nanobiology of National Nanometer Institute. At the same time, he also serves as the Executive Member of Chinese Pharmacopoeia Committee, the President of Tianjin Pharmaceutical Society, the President of Tianjin Pharmacological Society, and the Director of the China office of international Institute of Exogenous Metabolism (ISSX). Liu Changxiao is one of the pioneers and leaders of pharmacokinetics in China. In 1968, he established the first domestic pharmacokinetic laboratory; in 1975 he was the first time in domestic to pharmacokinetic research for new drug evaluation; in 1980 he published his first book of pharmacokinetic domestic monographs; in 1995 he created the first domestic pharmacokinetic key laboratory of ministry; in 2003 he created the first province department of construction of state key laboratory of pharmacokinetic. His paper “Practical Pharmacokinetic Computational Program Research” has been applied and cited by more than 4700 research papers published at home and abroad. Academician Liu Changxiao has been working on new drug research for a long time. Since 1986, he has undertaken and participated in more than 50 major national and provincial research projects, such as National 863 program, National 973 Program, National Key research projects of science and technology, National New Drug Fund program and National Natural Science Fund program, and led the completion of nearly 150 pharmacokinetic studies of new drugs. He has 15 new drug certificates and has won 36 provincial, national and international awards for scientific and technological achievements. He has published more than 350 papers at home and abroad, and 17 academic monographs in English and Chinese. Academician Liu has been rated as provincial and municipal Advanced Worker and Model Worker, National Model worker, National Outstanding Scientific and Technological Worker, and has been awarded Hong Kong Bauhinia Medical Achievement Award. Academician Liu was subsidized by the State Council in 1992. He was elected academician of Chinese Academy of Engineering in 2003.
