Zhou Shutang is a doctor, professor, doctoral supervisor. He was selected into the “National Project of Millions of Talents”, awarded “National Young and Middle-aged Experts with Outstanding Contributions” and “Special Government Allowance” by the State Council.
In 2002, he graduated from Queen's University, Canada, with a doctorate degree in biochemistry and molecular Biology. He used to be the assistant professor of Duke University, the researcher of Institute of Zoology in the Chinese Academy of Sciences, and the doctoral supervisor, research leader, Dean of School of Life Sciences in Henan Agricultural University. He is currently employed as a distinguished professor of “Climbing Program” of Henan University, Deputy Director of the State Key Laboratory of Cotton Biology and the Key Laboratory of Plant Stress Biology of the Ministry of Education, and a member of the Academic Committee. He is also the Director of Chinese Entomological Society, the Deputy Director of the Development and Genetics Professional Committee, the member of the Genome Professional Committee, and the member of the expert review group of the National Natural Science Foundation of China.
Professor Zhou has presided over key projects and general projects of National Natural Science Foundation of China, “973 Plan” project, project of Henan University Innovation Team, etc. He has published more than 30 papers in journals such as PNAS and PLoS Genetics, and his papers have been recommended by the “Faculty of 1000”. He has published 1 monograph and 3 authorized patents. He is awarded “Young Scientist award” by American Perinatal Society and “National Advanced Individual in Cotton Bollworm Control” by Department of Agriculture.
Professor Zhou's main research direction includes the integrated use of genomics, molecular biology, cell biology, genetics; endocrine regulation mechanism of reproductive development of insects; molecular mechanism of interactions between insects and plants, microbes and interactions between insect pests and their natural enemy insect, to parse the law and its whole mechanism of plant diseases and insect pests for the development of new green prevention and control method.
