Miao Yuchen is a doctor, professor and doctoral supervisor. He received his bachelor's degree in 1994 and master's degree in 2002 from Henan University and his doctor’s degree in 2005 from China Agricultural University. He was a postdoctoral fellow at Brookhaven National Laboratory of Ministry of Energy of U.S. from December 2008 to December 2011. In 2007, Professor Miao was awarded excellent Teacher of Henan Province. In 2008, he was named academic and technical leader of Henan Province. In 2014, he was appointed as the Distinguished Professor of Henan Province and awarded Science and Technology Innovation Outstanding Talents Program of Henan Province. In 2016, he was named as the ninth Batch of Outstanding Experts in Henan Province by Henan provincial party committee and provincial government. In 2018, he was selected into the “Zhongyuan Thousand Talents Plan” --the leading talent in basic Research. In 2019, he was selected into the “National Project for Millions of Talents” and awarded “National Young and Middle-aged Experts with Outstanding Contributions”. From 2012 to 2019 he served as Deputy Director and executive Deputy Director of the State Key Laboratory of Cotton Biology of Henan University and the Key Laboratory of Plant Stress Biology of Ministry of Education (Henan). From July, 2018, to October, 2019, served as the executive Vice President and Deputy Secretary of the School of Life Sciences. Now he is the Director of Discipline Construction Department of Henan University and a member of Academic Committee of Henan University.
Professor Miao presided over the National Key Research and Development Program, the National Natural Science Foundation of China and the Henan Provincial Fund for Outstanding Talents in Science and Technology Innovation. The main projects include the National Virtual Simulation Experiment Teaching Project, “Animal cell culture”. His main research areas are “molecular mechanisms of Redox signal transduction” and “secondary metabolites and abiotic stress responses in Plant”. He has published more than 30 SCI articles in The Plant Cell, PNAS, Plant Physiology and other journals. In addition, he has won the second prize of The State Natural Science Award, the first prize of another Natural Science Award of the Ministry of Education, and the medal for leading innovation in science and technology section of Henan Province.
